Yes definitely more than 1 ! Usually 1 per cat but sometimes 1 for 2 cats could be okay

The litter box thing is for indoor cats. Country/barn cats are a different species.

Cat rescue fosterer here, I’ve had kitties that refused to share a litter box and then kitties that would not poop in the same room as the other cat and kitties that absolutely did not care… it’s a spectrum 😁

For outdoor barn kitties, 1 is sufficient- they won’t be using it for very long or often after they’re integrated in the barn life. If they were 100% indoor kitties, the formula is one box per cat plus 1. I have 2 cats and 3 litter boxes. They favor one, but still use the other two.

You do not need more than one cat box for multiple cats just so you know as long as you keep up on the box it’s fine. I don’t know who told you that I have cats.

I've had cats my entire life, 4+ at a time, and they all shared the same box 🤷🏼♀️I've heard of cats not using a box because of another cat using it but I don't think it's the norm

The rule for the litter box is supposed to be 2 cats per litter box. I've never heard of 1 box per cat. I've had cats for many years amd I've always gone by the 2 per box. I have 3 cats and have 2 litter boxes. 4 litter boxes is nuts.

I have always had 3-4 cats and only one litter box. Sometimes they’re cool with poopin in the same spot and sometimes they pee on your shoes 😅
