I was once a firm believer in keeping pregnancies private until the second trimester because the odds of loss before then are so high, and then I experienced my own loss and thought - how does anyone keep that whole ordeal a secret!? I couldn’t even PRETEND to be myself, I was consumed by the pain and anyone who saw me could see that I was empty. I remember bumping into a follower in Whole Foods a couple of days after it happened, puffy eyed in sweatpants and thinking wow they must think I’m one hell of a catfish I’ve never looked worse and I had zero personality to offer 😂 That was when I decided I wanted to talk about the loss online, because the alternative was not showing up, or showing up fake and neither of those options felt right. I was overwhelmed by the love and support and the hundreds of women who reached out who were going through the same thing or had done in the past. It was healing. Honestly at that time I wasn’t sure we’d ever try again, but recently we realised how badly we wanted a second and after grieving all over again we finally felt ready. Just a couple weeks later I was stood in my bathroom with very sore b00bs thinking ‘surely not’. But there it was, a week before my period!! SO pregnant. The tests got darker, I got less anxious and was actually quite surprised how well I was coping and then this week I started to get some VERY MILD cramps. I know this can be normal, I never had this in my last two pregnancies one of which was fine and one wasn’t! Symptoms are a rollercoaster and all I can do is wait. But I guess I found this triggering, I’m finding it hard to keep hope, and again…I don’t want to not show up or show up fake so - I’m sharing my story on good days and bad.
