@lauraameliagarcia: Accessories as Armor Capsule Collection Sketches Inspired by the structures found in nature and traditional craft, this initial concept for a collection explores how repetition, interlocking, precision, and material can create objects that are both functional and protective. I began looking at how nature creates forms that are perfectly suited to their purpose and used that as a design philosophy. I was specially inspired by medieval Europe chainmail and the precision and structure of Northwest Coast basketry, which I encountered through my research at the Museum of Natural History. I translated these ideas through chainmail and leather + sheet metal weaving creating accessories that blur the line between protection and adornment.
