that first playdate is literally 3 hours of subtly trying to find out if Other Mom smokes Oui'd and wants to secretly hit a vape while the kids are distracted or if she's a Wine Mom, whom I will have nothing in common with. But I will also die before you make me do a first play date in a public space. I'm way too awkward for that 😅

Once they’re past 5 you don’t have to stay at the play date. If you don’t trust the other parent they shouldn’t be on a playdate with them.

I’m lucky. My daughter had immaculate friend choices. Great instincts. Awesome parent/s. People I still would be friends if I was child free.

CANT STAND IT. Even when I kinda like them it’s exhausting. I’ve considered putting an ad out that says “ISO a play date somewhere w/ comfy seats where we can not talk and scroll on our phones while our kids play. Parents: no talking allowed.”
