@drsermedmezher: “Sweetener May Cause Heart Attacks” #wait. Sources- European Society of Cardiology Story from NBC Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol found in fruits, vegetables, and birch trees, used as a sugar substitute in gum and baked goods. Unlike aspartame, an artificial high-intensity sweetener with no bulk, xylitol matches the volume and sweetness of sugar while actively preventing cavities. Despite being used for humans, xylitol is highly toxic to dogs. A dog's pancreas mistakes it for real glucose, triggering a massive insulin surge that causes a rapid, life-threatening drop in blood sugar, potentially leading to seizures, liver failure, and can be lethal. #xylitol #sweetener #health

gurra434 :
Maybe it is that the people who eat more xylitol also eat more processed food

I think all foods and sugars are poison if you over consume them. Moderation is the key.

The body makes its own xylitol. Dietary xylitol has little effect on blood levels.

I agree with you, this paper is quite vague. It has its pros and cons. They need to show nore proof that it is xylitol that increases the chance cardiovascular events.
