@littleblossomdarling: Replying to @Cassie Kenoyer you can still find these beautiful decorative heel stockings- but with some caveats. there appears to be only like 3 or 4 of these flat knit stocking machines left in the world- and they can only make about 30 stockings at a time, that then have to be hand finished individually. decorative heel stockings are actually only produced a couple times a year- because every needle on each machine needs to be changed to the different patterns. which as you can imagine is the labor intensive! #LearnOnTikTok #learnhistoryontiktok #fashionhistory

my grandma told me she had to wear those as part of her "uniform" at the store she learned at when she was young. they sold those tights there and taught her how to mend them without it being visible, women would bring them in all the time to have ladders repaired. she said that was her least favourite part of the job since it was such tedious work haha

my mom told me that back in the 60's & 70's the girls used to use eyeliner to draw the seam on the back of their legs, then put on the seamless tights for the faux fully fashioned look

Hello, i have worked at a store/company named Falke and they still sell those kind of stockings. I love them, they even make these kind with hearts at the heel ☺️

Secrets in lace is made at the gio factory, I went and did the gio factory tour! Whenever a factory goes out of business they would go and buy all the machines for parts to keep their factory going. They have parts to last another 20 years but not sure what happens after that!
