I can't think of another airframe that we decided was so perfect, we came back for seconds. The F-22 is a Ferrari. The F-35 is a Porche. The F-15EX is giving an F-350 a Raptor package and then turning it over to Rousch Racing for additional testosterone.

Its remains the greatest fighter jet in history. Is the F-22 ostensibly better? Of course. But the F-15's service life and the extension of its capabilities are the thing of legend the F-22 will never achieve.

having worked on F15c/d/e's for 9 of my 10 years in the USAF and the following 20 at Lockheed and Northrop...I still don't agree with the committees decision to not put the F135-PW-100 43,000lbs engines. and go with the lower power engine.
