@the.anatomy.hub2: Why Does Your Hip Hurt When You Sleep on Your Side? 🦴 Do you feel pain on the outside of your hip when lying on your side? One possible contributor is sensitivity of the gluteal tendons, particularly the gluteus medius and gluteus minimus tendons near the greater trochanter. Side sleeping can increase compression around this region, while activities such as walking, climbing stairs, and standing on one leg increase the force demands placed on the lateral hip muscles. The goal is not complete rest. Reducing unnecessary compression, modifying uncomfortable sleeping positions, and gradually strengthening the gluteal muscles can help rebuild load tolerance. Persistent or worsening hip pain should be professionally assessed to determine the cause.
