@semafor: @united Airlines CEO Scott Kirby says he is “100% certain” a merger with American Airlines would be good for customers. There is one fundamental problem: “We can’t get it done without a willing partner, and we clearly don’t have one.” From The CEO Signal, presented by PwC. Backstory, he used to work for AA and was slated to be the next CEO, then Isom took his place during the USAirways and AA merger ( which is how AA is today with their flaws) and Scott Kirby as always had an axe to grind since. That’s truly why he wants a merger with AA and United. He wants the spot that was “stolen from him”. That’s also why he throws so many fits with AA..The Chicago gates feud, the attempt to push United in Dallas DFW hub and Miami Hubs..it’s all his ego.

What is he talking about? Air travel is a commodity and most of us buy tickets based on price. A merger would be terrible for the average airline customer.

Scott should lay off the juju juice. Mergers never help the customer.
