@drwilloughjenkins: I talk to teen boys every day, and this is something I wish we could stop getting wrong. Teen boys have just as many emotions as everyone else. They feel embarrassed, rejected, lonely, scared, overwhelmed, insecure and heartbroken. They may just be less likely to have the language, practice, or comfort to tell you that is what is happening. Sometimes anger is easier to show. Sometimes they make a joke, disappear into their room, put on their headphones, start gaming, or answer every question with “I’m fine.” That doesn't mean there is nothing underneath it. We don't make boys stronger by teaching them to push difficult feelings down. We help them become stronger by showing them that they can experience those feelings, understand them, talk about them when they need to, and still be completely themselves. And parents don't have to force a heart-to-heart every time their son seems upset. Sometimes connection happens in the car, while you're doing something together, late at night, or in a two-minute conversation that seems insignificant to you but matters enormously to him. Masculinity and emotional openness are not opposites. #parentingteens #parenting #parentingadvice #parentingsupport #parentsoftiktok

Sweater Weather :
My 30 year old son’s education started in kindergarten when he participated in an emotions identification class. And it continued into his childhood as he road motocross requiring him to communicate regularly with adults on his needs. Talking to kids and having expecting that will talk back to you is the beginning. It’s not hard. They can’t raise themselves. .
