Nothing and no one were the same ever again. Those of us old enough to remember that day will carry that trauma forever. I long for the world that existed before 9/11.

People are shocked that people genuinely didn’t think the towers could come down—no one thought the titanic could sink, either. The buildings were meant to survive a plane crash… in 1960. People thought the worst thing that could happen was a plane accidentally hitting it at decelerated speeds when trying to come in for landing. They didn’t expect a modern day 747 filled entirely with jet fuel would purposely go as fast as it could into the side.

I remember watching the second plane hit the tower live on TV after school (Europe). We stayed on the TV all day and saw the towers collapse live. I was 13 and still remember everything 🥺

It was dark, darker than night. No air to breathe for those hiding behind and under cars.I cannot fathom any of it. Their stories will live on forever. Tell them until they cannot. 😭

The bravery of all of those emergency response people going against all their own instincts to run in and help people gets me every time. Rest in peace, and I hope the survivors find some peace too.

Hi :
I remember telling my dad it was amazing they were strong enough to take a plane hit. It felt so long they were just on fire. The shock of them coming down I’ll never forget. Watching one first without the other. Then the second.

im so glad people inside did not have camera phones or the ability to go live.. just from the descriptions from their phone calls and the fact that some would rather jump then stay up there says it all... I don't think we would've recovered from seeing it.

My first trip to New York City was in November 2001 for a school trip with my high school choir. I remember seeing people walking up to firehouses and just hugging firefighters or cheering them on the street when they drove by in their trucks. I stopped at every firehouse I walked by to hug these heroes. I have done the same thing every time I have been in NYC over the last two decades.

Watching this unfold in real time on tv… your throat was tight, your legs were weak, it was like the world was ending. I can’t imagine what it was like for people being there.
