@horseshowtherapist: You enter with a plan—and then suddenly you’re through the finish timers wondering what just happened. Anxiety can narrow your attention and make your brain rapidly jump between the next jump, the distance, the turn, the mistake you just made, and what could go wrong next. You’re taking in less of the ride while trying to process everything at once. That’s why simply telling yourself to “slow down” doesn’t always work. Your attention needs somewhere specific to land. Try choosing one cue at a time: ✨ Where’s my track? ✨ How’s my pace? ✨ Exhale ✨ Look through the corner ✨ Relax my hand The goal isn’t to make the ride happen more slowly. It’s to help your brain stay oriented inside the ride instead of mentally racing toward the finish. When the ring starts to feel fast, ask yourself: Where does my attention need to land right now? #horseshowtherapist #equestrian #showjumping
