Andrew Garfield stopped using ChatGPT after filming a movie about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Garfield plays Sam Altman, chief executive of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. The film, Artificial, covers the five days in November 2023 when OpenAI's own board fired Altman and then brought him back. Amazon gave no reason, and denied it was about the subject. Away from the film, Garfield has been vocal about Gaza. He signed a 2023 open letter demanding an immediate ceasefire, and said our energy belongs with Palestinians in Gaza and anyone living under oppression. Amazon and Google sell Israel's military cloud under Project Nimbus. A United Nations investigator names Amazon among 48 companies accused of sustaining the genocide in Gaza. Israeli military use of Microsoft and OpenAI AI rose nearly 200 times by March 2024. Neon bought Artificial in late June and puts it in theaters on Christmas Day.
