I still remember the teacher showing us videos and a kid asked why there was so many chunks of the building falling… i will never forget the loud silence after we were told it wasn’t the building it was people jumping

That first video is ingrained in my brain. The absolute despair of knowing there's nothing you can do to save that person... but still deciding to keep your eyes on them until their last breath. It's both the most haunting & honourable thing.

My dad was there, Fdny. I remember after the first two weeks sitting in front of our house with him to check the newspaper’s list of the dead for the names of anyone he knew. Now I’m the age he was then and it just gets more difficult to think about
