I’m thinking about getting a wedding band tattoo for our 37th anniversary. Due to arthritis I can’t wear my bands anymore, I’ve have a number of tattoos so I have a pretty good idea of what I’d be getting into. I did have an artist turn me down because he said I was too old (68) for what I wanted, a Viking ship on my forearm.

I can't imagine arguing with an artist over something they don't want to do. I wouldn't want a piece from someone whose heart wasn't in it

I don’t have anyone’s name on me except for a memorial tattoo I got for an ex after she died. I’m not risking a living person’s name in case they turn out to be an a-hole.

I had an artist tell me he wouldn't be the best option for the tattoo I wanted, but told me another artist in their shop was amazing at the style I wanted and sent me over to speak with her amd look at her work. Great artist for doing that! he did a couple tattoos on my husband because my husband wanted tattoos that were more in that artist's wheelhouse.

We got our wedding band tatts for our 10th anniversary. I designed a matching tatt for our 25th. But I wouldn’t yell at someone who didn’t want to do it. I won’t do graphic design for churches….

I love that your reason for not doing hand tattoos as a first/early one is practical and not gate keeping (‘you have to earn it’) or condescending (as if the grown adult asking for it doesn’t understand what they want and that some people might not like it). That shit drives me NUTS!

not turned down cuz I couldnt get it persay but I did have an artist turn me down because it wasn't something he felt interested in designing. which i was fine with. he had tattooed me before which is why I asked him, but id rather someone be excited to do an art piece than do it just for the "job"

I chose a wedding band tattoo because I’m not interested in degloving. I am far too active in far too many ways to risk that. If I ever am faced with divorce, I will either laser it off or cover it up. For me and my lifestyle, it’s absolutely worth the risk. I’m also heavily tattooed outside of this one.

i havent had any tattoo artist deny any of my ideas (yet), but i’ve had piercers reject some specific piercings i wanted bc of my anatomy and i trully appreciate them

the only name I would ever consider getting is my kids names, no matter what, I will always love them. other than that? big fat NO for me. I'm not even planning on getting my kids names either 😂 I want their foot prints

Do you have any experience tattooing anyone with connective tissue disorders? I have hEDS and it makes my skin super stretchy especially as I’m aging (46) I just had my inner thigh done and it made my skin so hyper-sensitive and it swelled pretty bad. I have quite a few tattoos but haven’t had this issue before.

Had my knuckles done 18 years ago. The color has faded twice. It’s just facts, they’re in the sun daily. I love them, but I see so many people hate very visible artwork.

thats a thing? I plan to do 2 tattoos, one dedicated to each partner i have in a symbolic way. (im in a polycule) one is a gummy shark cuz i love gummy sharks and one partner loves sharks and its his special interest. the other is a cow in a ufo cuz I love silly cute stuff and my other partner loves the concept. we also have the intention to stay friends even if stuff happens. I never understood names or bite tattoos...

I love having my wedding ring tattoed on. I've never had a job that allows real ones and my current job doesn't allow the rubber ones. Wouldn't do any names or dates other than for my kids though.
