@pieandprayer: This is how I finally got through the #Bible in 1 year. This is in bite sized chunks so it’s EASY to digest and only takes about 15 minutes a day. If you don’t take on the task for yourself, then you’ll never know every verse in the Bible. Your answer to the question you’ve had for years, could be hiding in the pages.

maybe he was saying “take my daughters” knowing they wouldn’t accept and/or hoping the angels would see how bleak the situation was.

I believe Lot had faith that the Angels were of Authority from Heaven would save them so he was willing to offer to sacrifice his own children. Does that remind you of Gods sacrifice for us, His Son?

Don’t forget that Lot had drawn away from God and the ways of God while living in Sodom. Peter said that he was “vexed with the filthy conversations (or lifestyle) of the wicked” when this happened. It’s a great lesson in how far we can get away from godliness when we draw away from Him.

Lots story has some hard things to swallow. Another one that hit me hard was when Jephthah fought Ammon and vowed to sacrifice whatever walked out his door and it ended up being his daughter 😭 lean into the Lord and lean not on our own understanding sometimes.

The Absolute Duty of Ancient HospitalityIn the ancient Near East, hospitality was a sacred, unbreakable law. When a host brought guests under their roof, they were making a binding vow to protect those guests at all costs—even at the expense of their own life or family. In Lot’s eyes, failing to protect the two travelers would bring ultimate shame and divine curse upon his house. To modern readers, sacrificing his daughters seems unthinkable, but in that specific ancient culture, failing to protect a guest was considered the ultimate betrayal.

I'm waiting on my copy to arrive. Charles Stanley was a great pastor/teacher of the word of God. Young lady. Keep doing what you're doing. God favors you for it.

I have a thought on this. So this is no different than being told to take your child up to the mountain. And sacrifice them it's obedience. i don't believe that he wanted to give his daughters up, but I believe that god told him to not knowing that they would be saved by the angels striking the evil people blind. i don't think this is apparent thing. I think this is an obedience thing, but that's my opinion.

I hate that Lot did that too and then what the daughters did later. Shows how merciful God is though. The whole city must have been extremely wicked if Lot and his family was the best of them. And my take away from that story if I look around me and I don’t even see 10 righteous people, then I best get up on out of there. lol

have we considered that Lot was aware of their holiness, and giving his daughters, as sacrifice, was his only measure he could provide to protect them.. not a disregard of the daughters worth, but that his reverence of their holiness demanded sacrifice in his eyes

You're supposed to recognize that Lot's morality was corrupted when he chose to enter the city of Sodom, and his life of sin left him with no good options because he chose a life apart from God. God destroyed the city shortly after this.

His daughters weren’t hurt. My guess is Lot knew they wouldn’t want them and was stalling them but the bigger picture is that Lot was willing to sacrifice his own for God. We see this repeated a few times throughout the Bible of the great, great men and women who proved they were willing to give all of them for God. Each time and this is important God provide provided so they dint have to. Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Ester, Ruth, Mary and Joseph, apostle Paul all had a moment where they chose to put all their trust in God to the point of full sacrifice and then God took them out. Jesus, was the only one that fully sacrificed completely and fully and then fully gave up himself in the scariest moment of time for him, which giving up his soul which he Willingly gave.

My opinion is that lots judgment was very clouded. Let’s don’t forget he was living in an evil city that God was about to destroy.

what about the Levite who pushes his concubine to a mob of men to be brutally raped and abused all night and she died the next morning when they gave her back…on top of that…the Levite saw her and said get up let’s go…no wonder she ran away from him…her father failed her…her master failed her…the man who hosted them failed her…the host had sons they failed her…all of those men failed her…that means we as women need to choose wisely who we surround ourselves with…if your men is not going to protect you…get out…this story also says…the men had no regard for women just regard amongst themselves…be aware of friendship that men puts their friends above his own wife…also GOD is saying…when everyone fails you I will not fail you…that is why it is very important to ask GOD if this man is for you…or if this woman is for you…it goes both ways…betrayal at its best…whatever men protects themselves and leave the women to be eaten by wolves…those men’s are worse than the abuser…GOD is literally telling men you are weak and women be were of such men…✝️💙🩵🤍 I love how GOD teaches us everything…🥰🥰🥰

Lot's decision shows the extent to which he and we can be influenced by a evil and wicked society. Would Americans of 100 years ago have been accepting of all the sin we now take for granted?
