Gretchen :
Hi Cassidy! ❤️I wanted to get your advice .... my son will be 8 months old next week. we've been starting foods since he was 6 months old, (bananas, porridge, chicken, beef, sweet potato, corn, steak, carrots, peas, garbanzos, avocado, black beans, butternut squash, potatoes) One time when he was 7 months old we were playing in the living room and my husband and I were eating homemade cheesecake for my birthday- we thought it would be fun to give our son a tiny lick from our spoon 🥄 and within 30-45 seconds our son was gagging, salivating, coughing and his lips blew up like a goldfish , covered in hives - I called 911 and they injected him with benadryl since he was still able to breathe. I have not been able to see a doctor since this incident because we were uninsured. i've been too scared to try any of the ingredients in the cake which was (cream cheese. sour cream., egg, vanilla extract and graham crackers). I am planning to see our pediatrician but I've heard some doctors recommend introducing the allergens again with a safety plan- do you think i'm wasting time by waiting to see a doctor or should i try to experiment and give him some egg or dairy again?
