@monieelyse: I really needed to get this off my chest. There is one creator in particular who has become a HUGE trigger for me. I’m not usually triggered by everyone who displays these behaviors online- I’m actually pretty good at scrolling past content that isn’t healthy for me. But this person is different because I have never seen someone’s ed mirror mine so closely. The OCD aspects. The routines. The rigidity. The rules around food. The way restriction can be disguised as “I’m just picky,” “Nothing wrong with knowing what you like,” or “I’m just really healthy.” Or claiming you’re in recovery, when you only introduce one new food into your routine that year. And that similarity hits differently. I know that ultimately, I am responsible for protecting my own recovery. I can scroll. I can block. I can choose not to consume content that I know is harmful to me. But I also can’t stop thinking about everyone else who is affected by content in general like this. Because this creator is just ONE person for me. What about the young person who sees videos like this and starts to innocently follow along the behaviors? Who learns to idolize the rigity and routine. The person who is in denial and thinks, “See? This is normal.” The person in recovery who is desperately trying not to compare. The person who thinks their behaviors are just “preferences” because they haven’t realized where those behaviors can eventually lead. That’s the part that scares me. Ed’s don’t always look like someone openly saying, “I have an ed. Sometimes they look like picky eating. Sometimes they look like wellness. Sometimes they look like discipline. Sometimes they look like having an extremely rigid routine that you insist is simply what you “prefer.” And sometimes restriction feels completely normal to the person doing it. And that’s what makes it so dangerous- You can be convinced that you’re just being “healthy” while slowly building a life around rules that become harder and harder to break. And so often, people don’t realize how far they’ve gone until they’re already really sick. I’m not saying this person is responsible for my recovery. They’re not. I am. But I do think we need to have more conversations about the responsibility that comes with publicly displaying behaviors that can be incredibly triggering and harmful to vulnerable people.. especially when those behaviors are presented as normal, healthy, or aspirational. This isn’t about shaming someone for having an ed. It’s about recognizing that an ed being disguised as something harmless doesn’t make it harmless. And if you’re reading this and thinking, “Wait… some of my ‘preferences’ are actually rules I’m terrified to break,” please don’t wait until you’re “sick enough” to ask for help. You deserve help before it gets that far. 🤍 #recovery #recoveryispossible #recoveryjourney #recoveroutloudforthosewhosufferinsilence #recoveroutloud

do you think reaching out to her and pouring your heart out could possibly help her want recovery? maybe not, and if it would make things worse for you then I completely understand staying away from her ....

My sweet little pickle…I’m so proud of you for recognizing who triggers you and seeing this person’s behavior for what it really is. That awareness takes incredible strength. Please know I’m not going anywhereeeee! I’m beside you every step of the way, through the good, the bad, the ugly, the healing, the tears, the quiet, the noise and every accomplishment. You’ll never have to face this alone. I love you endlessly, and I’ll be cheering you on through it all. And I’ll be at the finish line with the biggest and proudest smile!!

girl, you are trying so hard. I think with anyone and mental health it's hard for us to switch mental habits meaning changing how we react or when we react changing how we talk to ourselves. it takes time and getting upset with yourself yes is a normal response but you can't let that over shadow everything you have done to be healthy the things you share on here help others. I think you need to yes recognize the trigger recognize how you respond and leave it at that. don't be so hard on yourself we are all work in progress. I agree I worry about this generation too

acknowledging, accepting, facing it, letting it out and doing something about it is the best tea for success. you are on the right track my friend. And remember, we cant change others. they have to want change as bad as you do. keep your head up and stay strong.

Holding space, what we see does affect us. Yes, ED is an addictive behavior and with that, it is only something we can fix or manage. Would you say an addict was bad??? I doubt it! They are trying to not feel something, just like us. We can't control others, we can only do what we can within this 24hrs to not fall back into old patterns to the best of our ability. Love ya!

your heart. lovey girl. we can not change others sadly they need to want to. she Is Not in a place of peace and your empathy is wishing so much better for her. All I can suggest is to say OK well ill do better because I am going to still be the possibility of inspiration that might just save someone else who Is Ready to get help and Do the work. I can only take good care of me and I do not need to feel guilt because I feel so sad for sad about someone else who can't be where I am. grace is given but it can only be received if someone is aware and open to receiving it. you are doing so much good by sharing your own story and there are others that are so blessed by the positivity and honesty you share. you are allowed to have feelings. you are so much stronger than you used to be, right?! But the fact is. You had to choose yourself and you are working hard to stay in recovery. So keep this in your heart. You are a wonderful loving person. you got the help you needed when we're ready. It's not like you are forcing anyone to make bad choices. all we can do is be good to Ourselves so we can inspire others to be good to themselves. as a good example.
I am soo proud to follow your journey and see how much you are trying and actually doing all the the things that you can to be the good example and your honesty is an inspiration alone. I'm sending you so much love. it's completely human to feel things and that's good. it's better to talk about it with those that care than to hide how you feel and give into self destructive behaviors out of frustration or emotional pain. We are Here For you. we will always be happy to give you that ear when you need it. *big warm hugs* and you are always amazing us in so many ways with that beautiful heart of yours! every time I listen to you. I am even more grateful that you are here and so proud to be a part of your angel squad. 🥰💯 breathe. This too shall pass. we are here. and So Overjoyed that You Are Too!!!

You’re doing so great. Healing isn’t linear. Setbacks are so human. Grief alone is so so hard and painful. Give yourself as much grace as you can each day. Day by day. Minute by minute. You’ve got this ❤️
