@makiadi.nsangu: To maintain the stability of such a vast and multi-ethnic empire, the government of the empire was based on an ingenious system of pacts between the three great forces (Nsaku, Mpânzu and Lukeni/Ñzînga). Often, the imperial throne required marriage alliances or a rotation, balance of influences among these large families to avoid destructive civil wars. Knowing this allow you to know where you can claim your place in Bakongo community Thank you, and see u soon !! #africa #palops🇦🇴🇲🇿🇸🇹🇨🇻🇬🇼 #bakongo #kongo #ancestors

When I was a child I had to memorize it. Otherwise my mother said no one would believe that I’m Angolan and Mukongo. My grandparents carried on a centuries old Bakongo tradition. My grandfather comes from the maternal Nzinga lineage and my grandmother from the maternal Nsaku lineage. In Bakongo culture power needs spirit. Nzinga represents power, kingship and leadership while Nsaku represents spiritual wisdom, law and tradition.
The story of Lukeni lua Nimi illustrates this too. He wanted to become king, but power alone was not enough. As the son of a Nzaku princess, he needed his uncle’s spiritual blessing to rule. From Lukeni’s royal lineage came the Nzinga line.
Nzinga is power & Nsaku is the spirit that legitimizes it.

Interesting video! I don’t know if I agree with the concept even tho they were practiced by our ancestors (speaking in 21st century sense) I am still deep in the process of knowing my Kongo heritage, at the moment all I know is that, I am Ndibu, from main Kongo Central General, Banza Ngunu, so hearing I wouldn’t be considered Mukongo because I do not know the specifics is a little disheartening but I don’t view that way tho but the more you know !

You’re only Bakongo if you can trace your lineage back to Lukeni lua Nimi. So if Lukeni lua Nimi isn’t mentioned in your oral traditions, then you’re not Mukongo.
