I don't know what "larpping science" means, but I hate when people downplay Okabe's role in creating time travel. He made three inventions that make him the greatest scientist in the show: 1. D-Mail – Made by accident, but still his and Daru's invention. 2. Time Divergence Meter – More impressive than the D-Mail or Phone Wave, since it shows changing worldlines. 3. Fully Functional Time Machine – In Steins;Gate 0, he built two time machines in 2025, 10 years before SERN . One rescued Suzuha and Mayuri; the other was for Suzuha to bring to his past self.
