11 portaloops. As many trips to the toilet, as loops around Buttermere. Despite the stomach issues, I’m ridiculously proud of how that went. All year I’ve struggled with my knee, pulling out of races left, right, and centre. But I decided to just head out there, with little to no expectation, to just enjoy it, pull out when I felt a niggle, and join the support crew for @rob_explorez (who smashed out over 100km’s - so proud!) Never did I ever expect to still be out there putting up these kind of numbers. The knee held out completely fine, and it was my stomach that seemed to have other ideas. The body felt great, and I could have carried on running, but I timed out on the 11th due to a detour to use a pub toilet. A mad day out, but I’d expect nothing less from a backyard ultra. These things are nuts, the format is quite frankly daft, the organisers are crackers, and do you know what? I can’t wait to do another. Big up the boys @mackyardevents for another fantastic event, and everyone who supported, and crewed us along the way. The people you meet at these events are what make them so special, and there’s no one who does it better. Even more determined now, than ever, to get 100km seen to! Will the biscuit knee return?
