Abilify is one of the worst things that’s ever happened to me and idc that it was the best sleep schedule I’ve ever had but it is not worth the lobotomy that I still haven’t recovered from 7 months since my last dose

For me, absolutely NO. I have OCD and they prescribed me just 5 mg of olanzapine. In 18 months, the sedation was practically gone, my weight almost doubled (not kidding), diabetes, hypothyroidism and nobody tell you they have withdrawal

I take 25mg Quetiapine for sleep (trazadone too) and hate how fat it makes me..,. Is there any way to help with the metabolism/hunger problem?

i got prescribed antipsychotics -quetiapine for sleep at the mental hospital. it certainly works and I can't fall asleep without it, i gained weight (tho i also take other meds), I can't sleep without it anymore at night, but the sleep quality is amazing I won't lie. i have (suspected) BPD so I'd take them either way, i just wish i got prescribed normal sleeping pill before getting antipsychotics

it makes me tired but it doesn't help my sleep. Gabapentin on the other hand.... has a million side effects but I can sleep

I was on quetiapine for sleep for a while. Very low dose. Coming off them was okay and I didn’t use them for overly long term. Maybe a year. It was part of what they gave me to help me get off benzodiazepines and felt they helped more than any of the other stuff (propranolol, citalopram) I was prescribed. The insomnia after quitting benzos was insane. Felt like my eyes refused to even stay closed. Awful experience.

So I use Benadryl to control my severe nerve pain - my hypothesis was that it works as an anti-histamine and an acetylcholine antagonist, reducing the activity of glial cells in my nervous system as well as calming acetylcholine receptors. So - could I potentially try to swap Benadryl with an antipsychotic for pain management?

I got put on a low dose of one as a booster for my already maxed out antidepressant, and I literally cannot fall asleep at night if I forget to take it. I started taking it and for the first time in my life since I hit puberty, I had a regular sleep schedule again. They make medication to help with side effects, so if I need them down the line, I’m not too worried.

I was on risperidone for about a year and a half, and at my highest dose I was sleeping 11 hours. which for me is insane. my psych said me and one other patient had the same complaint of too much sleeping. eventually got off it once I was more stable. but now I have a healthy habit of 7-8 hours a night. better than the 4 I used to get before.

Off label prescribing of low dose Quetiapine is very common where I live, especially as a sleep aid, and socially I think it adds to stigma. I was previously on 800mg to treat bipolar 1, and I had so many people making comments about how "I must be really mentally ill" or "how are you even standing?"
