Wovens! Did I starch them all? So many woven fabrics in both of these #SimplyScrapsQuilts and that’s such a great question! I’ve used starch before but I did not use it in these quilts. There were only a total of 2 wovens that had a pretty loose weave (the cream and dark purple) that maybe could have benefitted from starching, but I just reduced my stitch length and everything went well. I tend not to use starch due to the last time I used it, I didn’t like the residue that was left on my ironing board and iron (maybe it was the brand?) Also, even though I starched yardage in the past, after cutting pieces and leaving them for a few days before sewing, they shrunk a tad. 😫 Not a ton, but enough to throw off accurate measurements. Soooo because of that, I’ve been hesitant to use starch again. But who knows, I’m always open to trying it again! Do you starch your fabrics? Do you have a brand that you swear by if I were to give it a go again? Pattern = Simply Scraps = now out! Fabrics = Blue version is made mainly from fabrics from Peony Pedal Quilts. Her FQ bundles are fab! The Pink/purple version of the pattern is mainly from fabrics that I’ve had in my fabric stash for a few years.
