It’s not the specific reason, it’s the disrespect. This is something deeply important to you and he has completely disregarded your feelings on it, gone behind your back when he didn’t get his way and treated you like a misbehaving child when you called him on it. None of this are the actions of a partner who cares about you, understands your values or respects you as an equal or even just as a fellow human being. I wouldn’t do this to a coworker I disliked let alone my life partner. Please take this for the clear warning sign that it is.
