I have suspicions that I have BPD but have intentionally dodged diagnosis due to the fear of it impacting how medical professionals treat me. That aside I am the same way in relationships. I do my best to just let myself panic and not allow it to impact the other person and making that change led me to my current partner who is lovely and always shows up for me, even if he fails now and again he fixes it. Before him I thought I cared too much and put in too much effort but I actually just hadn't found someone who actually loved me. Because people show up when they love you. I've discovered that slow burn relationships usually work best for me in both romance and friendship. Every time I instantly click with someone and feel comfortable around them immediately, they end up hurting me. I think being autistic and (maybe) BPD just attracts NPD and ASPD so the people we are instantly drawn to are actually the most harmful/dangerous.

The one who truly loves you won’t make you feel like crap and second guess yourself. If you were the one giving everything in the relationship especially your love, affection and time and they didn’t do the same they were not the one for you. You are better off without someone who could go all day ignoring you, sleeping throughout your whole birthday and act like they don’t care. The good people always get hurt but I hope someone way better comes into your life and gives you the same love you give them. The right person will love you being clingy and would want to be you as much as possible. I know I would love a woman like this in my life. Wish you the best.

My ex, through a full 15 month relationship, never got me a gift. Ever. She always got holiday baskets and gifts for her roommate tho. Always bragged to me about how great and thoughtful they were. I always made sure she know I loved and appreciated her. I’d get her gifts, flowers randomly, and always tried my best and showed up with a good attitude. Point is, she was never going to really care about me or anyone. Just herself and her roommate. It’s easier moving on now that I’ve figured that out.
