@magnoliapharmacy: Overnight menopause at 38 and the entire counseling was 'you'll be fine.' Natural menopause takes years. Surgery does it by morning. And the estrogen that vanished had been quietly protecting her blood vessels, her cholesterol, her blood sugar, protection she lost more than a decade early. The part that gets me as a pharmacist: so many of these women were never even offered the hormone conversation. Not declined it. Never offered it. If your ovaries were removed young, this deserves a real evaluation, even years later. Drop a comment if this was you. You're going to be surprised how many others answer. #surgicalmenopause #hysterectomy #womenshealth #menopause #hormonehealth
Not just the young women. I just had a total hysterectomy(ovaries removed) at 52 and the doctor will not prescribe hormones even though the research says estrogen will protect my heart, bones and sleep.

I was offered it but couldn't tolerate it. I just started on an estradiol patch, 19 years later, and seem to be doing good so far.

I’m 60. Hysterectomy at 26. Ovaries removed at 35. I was on Evamist immediately afterward but about 10-12 years ago my neurologist wanted me to stop due to debilitating migraines. So I did. Nothing changed except I felt way older than I was. About 6 months ago I began using the Dotti patch and then added progesterone 100mg. We’ve since increased that to 200mg. My libido has always been low but it has gotten non existent so I’m going to see if we can add testosterone. My dexa score is 2.5 so I know the lack of hormones for a decade or so wasn’t good. We’re not doing labs but we’re treating symptoms.

I was told I didn't need HRT in 2019 even after begging. . I was finally prescribed 200mg of progesterone in August and the side effects were terrifying. So much so, I'm moving my care to a different doctor who specializes in menopause caused by a cancer diagnosis.

omg the 'you'll be fine' part is literally infuriating 😭 it's like they just ignore everything. i started using the Endora app, my little app for logging everything, to keep all my exam reports in one place so i have actual proof when i finally get that real evaluation💝💝
