In 1978, Zimbabwe was at war people were dying, families were separated, the future was dark no one knew which way the country was going Oliver Mtukudzi still a young man looked at his people and saw they were lost like a blind person trying to walk alone with no one to hold their hand. So he wrote NDIRI BOFU as a prayer to two people 1. Amai/Mother in Shona culture, mother is the guide the protector, the one who knows the road. When you are blind only your mother can lead you home safely. 2. God: The song also says "Titungamirire" lead us, Guide us because as humans we are limited we think we knownbut we are actually blind in this world we need a higher power to show us the way.
