Meeting Update: Speaking with Cache Mayor Scott BrownCity of Cache, Oklahoma I recently had the chance to sit down and speak with Mayor Scott Brown regarding several key issues in our community. Yes, the conversation was recorded-under Oklahoma law, recording a public official during a meeting on public matters is completely protected, and Mayor Brown was fully aware. Overall, the conversation was constructive. Mayor Brown checked me on some negative comments I'd previously made about him. When I'm wrong or out of line, I have no problem admitting it, so I offered a sincere apology for that piece. He seems like a good guy, but politics and public accountability are a whole different ball game. My primary concern remains unanswered: 1 am still waiting for complete fulfillment of my Oklahoma Open Records Act request. During our meeting, I was handed the exact same binder I was previously shown, which didn't contain the full records requested. I'm remaining hopeful that Mayor Brown and the City of Cache will familiarize themselves with state Open Records laws and uphold full transparency for our citizens.
