You can go to Officeworks and asks for high rez images and to be scanned on the glass not the feeder scanner and it would look better

I work at OW for better res, i avoid the ADF and use the flatbed scanner. if you do go again, just ask for the flatbed

You can go on the notes app on your iPhone and scan it to a pdf though the notes app and print it

You can ask for them to lower the exposure on the machine itself, sometimes this helps! Worked in an office as a document scanner

Maybe try scan them through the scan on your phone? You can do it through the notes app or if you have a hp printer you can do it through their app too x
