If the parent responds to emotions with being disrespectful (mocking and joking) cruel (punishments for personal gain like grounding from TV because your show is on) or destructive (see videos of parents destroying child's things out of anger)

Yes preparing them for the real world, teaching them that things aren’t always going to go your way, with the learning what “no” means. My kids have a hard time with that, anytime we say no to something, they just beg and beg but if they ask why? We do give them a legit reason why. But we do not entertain the begging.

while all this is true if one or both parents cant practice what they preach and lead by example then this advice will not stick. they will think that these are rules just for children and don't apply to adults
