I’m so fucking frustrated that healthcare and dental care can put somebody in a position where they have to get on the internet crying and asking strangers for help just to get out of pain. I HAVE insurance. I have Georgia Medicaid. The problem is I’m currently in Florida and my insurance won’t cover my dental treatment here. I spent hours calling around trying to find somewhere in Georgia that accepts my insurance, and when I finally found somewhere, they told me they can’t see me until NOVEMBER. It’s September. What am I supposed to do until then? Just sit here in pain and watch my face continue to swell? I’m tired. My face hurts. My jaw hurts. It hurts to talk. The swelling keeps coming back on the right side of my face and around my eye. I literally ended up at the hospital because of the facial pain and swelling. And then I’m looking at a dental treatment plan that is over $10,000 knowing damn well I do not have $10,000 sitting around to pay for dental work. This is what makes me so angry. Why does being able to get medical or dental care depend so heavily on how much money you have? Why should somebody with insurance have to choose between waiting MONTHS while they’re in severe pain or somehow finding thousands of dollars to get treated sooner? I did what I was supposed to do. I got insurance. I called dentists. I looked for providers. I went to the hospital. I tried to figure this out without asking anybody for anything, and I have hit wall after wall after wall. I’m genuinely scared to keep waiting while my face is swelling like this. I’ve had a procedure on my heart before, and the thought of having an untreated dental problem potentially becoming more serious scares the hell out of me. I’m not claiming I know what is causing every symptom or that something will spread, I just know I’m in severe pain, I’m swelling, and I need dental treatment. So yes, I made a GoFundMe. I really did not want to have to do this, but at this point I need help. If you can donate even $1, $5, $10, whatever you can, I appreciate you more than you know. And if you genuinely cannot donate, PLEASE share this video or my GoFundMe. A share costs nothing and could put this in front of somebody who is able to help me. I just want to stop hurting.
