The concerns intensified after the February abduction of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, from her Arizona home. Nancy has still not been found. Then, on July 16, another scare unfolded when Andrew Truelove allegedly slipped past security and reached the area just outside the “Today” studio. Truelove allegedly confronted co-anchor Craig Melvin and asked where he could find Al Roker before directing a racial slur at Melvin. Melvin alerted security, and Truelove was arrested. Page Six previously reported that a security guard was fired following the incident. Now, multiple layers of heightened security have reportedly been installed at 30 Rockefeller Center specifically to protect “Today” staffers.
