@sdelanovussr: In the Soviet Union, by the mid-1980s, finding good food in our city had become increasingly difficult, so my friends and I decided to make a legendary “sausage run” to the capital. After our Friday shift, we grabbed huge canvas bags, boarded an overnight train, and arrived early the next morning ready to shop. We spent hours visiting stores and standing in long lines, filling our bags with Doctor’s sausage, Krakowska sausage, butter, oranges, and chocolates for the children. With several hours left before our train home, we stopped near the station to celebrate our successful trip. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we completely lost track of time and missed the train! The next morning, we grabbed our bags and caught the first train back. I finally arrived home on Monday at sunrise, proudly covered the kitchen table with our treasures, told Sveta the “terrible queues” had delayed me, and went straight to my morning shift! #USSR #sovietunion #History #story
