The Makkah Clock Tower (Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel) is an international engineering masterpiece located within the Abraj Al Bait complex in the heart of Makkah Al-Mukarramah. It is one of the tallest buildings in the world and the tallest clock tower ever built. It also features the largest clock in the world. 🏗️ Technical facts: The tower is remarkable in both height and scale. Its enormous clock faces are significantly larger than Big Ben. Clock hands: The minute and hour hands are extremely large and are made from lightweight materials such as carbon fiber. The giant crescent: At the very top of the tower stands a gigantic crescent, one of the largest in the world, decorated with a golden mosaic. Lighting system: The clock is illuminated by around one million LED lights, making it visible from many kilometers away. During special events and religious occasions, powerful lights and lasers can also be seen from great distances. 🏛️ The Clock Tower Museum: Located in the uppermost floors of the tower, the museum allows visitors to learn about the history of timekeeping, lunar cycles, and astronomical phenomena using advanced observation equipment. Shopping centers and services: The complex includes a huge multi-story shopping mall, international dining areas, and prayer areas capable of accommodating thousands of worshippers, connected to the Grand Mosque. Hotels and residential units: The complex contains several international hotels, including the Fairmont Hotel located in the main tower, as well as residential facilities. Timekeeping and technology: The clock is connected to five atomic clocks to ensure extremely accurate timekeeping and partly relies on solar panels to generate energy. 🌍 Location and importance: The tower is located very close to King Abdulaziz Gate of the Grand Mosque.
