I don’t think people are understanding what unidentified remains mean. It doesn’t mean people don’t know their loved one was there or that they have been forgotten, it means they have been unable to match body parts to names. These remains are unrecognizable, some of them may be so damaged there is no usable DNA. It’s a huge undertaking. All 2,753 victims have been named, not all of their bodies have been matched to them.

If you have the chance to visit the memorial its absolutely harrowing. Probably the most memorable part of my trips to nyc. Every inch is so beautiful and respectful. It’s a sad place for sure but the way the have preserved its memory is beyond words

It’s crazy to think that there are so many that haven’t been identified. How was there no one who realized their family member was missing? Just shows you how many people survive in the world alone.

That is why that museum is so haunted. I was there in May and while I was looking at an exhibit all alone, someone grabbed my shoulder. I turned around to look, expecting my mom, but there was no one around. It was a very solemn moment for me. May those people who are still not identified become known soon, for their spirit and families sake.

My son and I visited the Memorial Museum. there was a wall and said behind it are still unidentified remains. This was such an amazing experience.

My husband was working on the Brooklyn bridge when it all unfolded. He said he saw the ferries, other boats taking people across the water, the people streaming over the bridge, no cell service…he has memories he won’t share even today and I don’t ask. 🙏🏻 🇺🇸

What’s crazy to think about is that this is a job someone will hold for the entirely of their career, until they retire most likely and they still won’t have probably identified all remains by that point as well. What an incredibly eerie thought..and tragic, too. I was 13 when 9/11 happened and oh, how I miss who we were as a nation on 9/12 as well.
