Calvin Oftana carried the Philippine offense with 31 points, two rebounds and one assist without committing a turnover, while Adrian Nocum delivered an all-around performance with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal. The Philippines trailed by as many as 16 points and entered the fourth quarter down 76–61. Justine Baltazar cut the deficit to seven before Don Trollano’s transition three brought Gilas within four with 11.2 seconds remaining, but Bahrain held on. Gilas dominated the boards, 46–28, and made 13-of-18 free throws, but shot just 42% from the field and 10-of-34 from three. Bahrain converted 53% of its field goals, including 41% from deep. Nocum also suffered an apparent ankle injury while attacking the basket with 1:51 remaining.
