I grew up with an arts and crafts mum and I loooongggedddd for that with my son he’s 5 now and only JUST really struck an interest in sitting down and doing arts and crafts. Until now I would set up all sorts of activities and he would do it with me for a little bit but wasn’t as creative as now

One of the first things I learnt in my Creative Industries degree is that everyone is creative but it just don’t call it creative. If you can problem solve you are creative, if you can have an idea you are creative. Creativity is not just discouraged and seen as a vague trait, it’s rebranded and played off as other things. How you are fostering your kids creativity is so beautiful, I hope more people can take on these lessons and make the next generation proud to call it creativity in every form it presents

We have an art cabinet I rotate guided project and supplies out of. So sewing kits, diamond stickers, weaving, air dry clay, bead making etc. but then they each have a caboodle with just random stuff for crafting. So the guided projects I will sit and introduce and they can only be done under certain circumstances (has to be at a table, on a tray etc) but then free crafting is whenever.

One of the educators at my 4yo sons daycare said to me recently “oh he loves to paint, none of the other boys get excited the way he does when we bring out the paint supplies” and that made me a bit sad. I’ve always been into art and creating, so I really wanted to foster this in my son, and in the beginning he would last 2 mins and lose interest, but I kept trying. We have a craft trolley, loads of different things on it that I add to, a space at the table so he can access it whenever he wants. And over time he got really into it. My dining table is “ruined” but that’s ok because we have a wall full of artwork he’s done because of it.

also as a teacher, creativity is sooo much more than just arts and crafts!! its like a fundamental building block for general problem solving skills !! if you can find a way to make something cool with random scraps around the house, you can find a way to learn how to make long division make sense

I've set up a craft caddy after seeing Becs posts. It's actually surprising how much more into drawing/art my 3 year old is now that she's self initiating, vs from when I used to say let's colour. The caddy is in a place she can access, the only rule is she packs up when she is finished. I try and replace stickers and stuff frequently to peak her interest

Such a great explanation about creativity! we all have it but some need a little more guiding to get started.

I homeschooled my boys throughout their primary school years and we would do an hour of sun/movement (outdoor play) & an hour of creative (arts/crafts/cooking/music creation) outside of a learning day. They loved choosing what they could do during that hour everyday.

My 3.5yo is a perfectionist that loves craft but our 1 problem is he often just wants to watch us do the wholeee thing. Like telling us to do all the drawing and painting and he wants to just direct us. But I also know with persistence he will gain confidence, just waiting for that day to come 🫠.

My son didn’t take an interest in arts and crafts until he started school, teachers had all the fun ideas and supplies, and being with other kids doing those things was very inspiring for him!

What’s your idea of paradise? The area between the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains is a thing of beauty and magic, where nature’s grandeur is on full display. Nestled in the heart of Romania, this region offers an escape into a world of towering peaks, lush valleys, and serene landscapes. The majestic Carpathians cradle this area, making it a hiker’s dream and a traveler’s haven. As the sun begins to set, the sky transforms into a canvas of fiery reds, deep purples, and shimmering golds, with layers of clouds adding depth and drama. The Bucegi Mountains to the east and the rugged Piatra Craiului to the west create a dramatic backdrop, their silhouettes etched against the glowing sky. This isn’t just any sunset—it’s an epic symphony of light and shadow, nature’s own masterpiece. The region is known for its breathtaking vistas, where each evening feels like witnessing a new wonder of the world. But it’s not just about the view; it’s about the experience. Imagine standing at the edge of the Zarnesti Gorge, feeling the cool mountain breeze on your face as the last rays of sunlight dance across the limestone cliffs. Or hiking up to Curmătura Cabin, where the panoramic view of the setting sun over the Piatra Craiului Ridge leaves you in awe. How do you capture such a moment in words or photos?
