@casfod1: Did you know that according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), nearly 6.4 million children in Nigeria are projected to face acute malnutrition, with the Northeast region standing as the absolute epicenter of the crisis? Out of the total burden, the Northeast states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe alone account for 2.6 million affected children under five, leading the nation in severity. That’s not just a statistic but millions of families struggling to put nutritious food on the plate. In Njimtilo community, Konduga LGA, CASFOD in partnership with CATAI and CENSCOPE, and with funding from the Nigerian Humanitarian Funds @OCHAFunds is tackling this challenge through lifesaving interventions. One proven solution under Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) is community cooking demonstrations. These sessions empower caregivers to prepare affordable, nutrient‑dense meals using locally available ingredients. This week, we partnered with Dinnah Ibrahim, an exceptional local food influencer, who showed that nutritious meals don’t require breaking the bank. With lead mothers cooking alongside her, families learned how to prepare moimoi, tofu (awara), sweet potato with beans, rice and beans jollof, and tuwo masara with vegetables, meals that provide protein, energy, and vitamins essential for children’s growth. Cooking demonstration go beyond recipes: they build practical skills, reinforce hygiene, and empower mothers to feed their children with the right frequency, texture, variety, and portion size. Pregnant women also benefit, learning how diverse diets strengthen their own health and their babies’. Together with our partners and donors, CASFOD is proving that resilience starts with knowledge, local foods, and community action. Every meal prepared is a step toward a healthier future for children and families in conflict‑affected communities. Let’s continue to invest in practical, community‑driven solutions that save lives. #CookingDemonstration #Livesavinginterbention #TackleMalnutrition@Dinnah Ibrahim
