PART TWO: “But she’s a nurse…” 👀 And THIS is where the conversation gets uncomfortable. Because somewhere along the way, social media convinced people that taking an injectable course + buying a syringe = becoming an aesthetic injector. That is not how this works in Mississippi. And before somebody comes for me in the comments… I don’t make the rules. 🎀
But I do believe patients deserve to understand them. In Mississippi, Botox and dermal filler injections are NOT within the scope of practice of an RN or LPN. Read that again. Being a nurse does not automatically give someone the legal scope to inject your face. And even becoming a Nurse Practitioner doesn’t mean you wake up one morning and aesthetics magically becomes part of your standard NP education. Advanced aesthetic procedures require education, documented competency, appropriate scope, protocols, collaboration where required—and when a procedure falls outside basic APRN education/certification, Mississippi has an actual special-privilege process through the Board of Nursing. Why all the red tape? Because this isn’t just beauty. It’s medicine. We are placing prescription medications and medical products into a human face containing arteries, veins, nerves and structures where complications can become serious very quickly. The pretty lips are the fun part. The real qualification is knowing anatomy.
Knowing when NOT to inject.
Recognizing a complication.
Having emergency protocols and appropriate medications available.
And knowing what to do when your perfect appointment suddenly isn't perfect anymore. So when someone tells you: “It’s okay, she’s a nurse.” Your next question should be: “Okay…but is she legally authorized to perform THIS procedure?” Because those are two completely different questions. And in our patient's case? That distinction became very important. https://www.skinlabaestheticbeauty.com 🚨 If you experience severe symptoms or believe you may be having a medical emergency, seek immediate evaluation in the ER or call 911. If something following an aesthetic procedure doesn’t look or feel right, contact your treating medical provider immediately. If you're dealing with an aesthetic complication and need guidance, our team at Skin Lab is always happy to help point you toward the appropriate level of care. When in doubt—reach out. 🖤 #storytime #botched #cosmeticprocedures #part2 #fyp @emmaclairedaniel @Sydney Morgan @KinsleeJordan
