He pulled it over near North Tampa Street and East Kennedy Boulevard, right in front of Lykes Gaslight Square Park. The driver turned out to be 24-year-old Tatiana Viera. While talking to her, Gonzalez smelled alcohol and saw clear signs she was impaired. He called Officer David Frueh to start a DUI check. Viera said she had come from a friend's house that night. Frueh asked her to do field sobriety tests due to his concerns. First came the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Frueh noted all six clues of impairment, plus vertical nystagmus. Next, the Walk-and-Turn. She missed heel-to-toe steps, turned wrong, and took the wrong count. Last, the One-Leg Stand. Viera failed to lift her foot right. Her wild driving, alcohol smell, impairment clues, and botched tests led to her arrest for DUI. Frueh took her to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office for booking. There, she skipped the breath test.
