You are right, it is dying. Hearsay- it was started by Pritivi Narayan Saha, with an idea of not only geographically unifying Nepal but also unifying people from different caste groups by connecting through Mit sambandha. Traditionally it wasn’t supposed to be between people of the same caste or ethnic groups.
