As I’ve said many times before I’m a firm believer of the 80:20 rule - 80% of our energy should come from whole foods and nutritious minimally processed foods and then 20% with whatever else you like. And I always say as well that I believe a very helpful approach is to be aware of what’s in the foods we’re buying in the supermarket and try swap from very ultra-processed options to more minimally processed options (ie you could technically buy the same ingredients and make it at home!) So what I’ve done here in this video is an example of moving away from buying very ultra processed Pringles to buying more minimally processed crisps made with just potatoes, oil & salt. The difference is ultra processed crisps have had so much money poured into the development of them to make them as irresistible as humanly possible because their motivation is for us to eat more and more and more so they maximise profits 👎 This is a good example of why reading labels is so important because sometimes the difference between the same kind of food (ie crisps) can be quite extreme! And by reading ingredients lists and then making simple swaps like this we’re reducing our intake of ultra processed foods which are designed in a way that makes us over-consume. We as consumers are powerful!! The more of these swaps we ALL make, the more the big food companies will rethink what they put into the foods that make up our food system 💪 #ultraprocessedfoods #cleverswaps #realfood #ingredientsmatter
