Following Hurricane Lowell, residents are dealing with damage, power outages, long gas lines and shortages of essential supplies. Hotels and vacation rentals are also prioritizing displaced residents who have lost their homes. Local tourism leaders and longtime Kauaʻi residents are asking visitors to hold off on traveling to the island unless they are coming to provide relief, assist with recovery, or visit family.
