@omidan_olayinka: Marriage these days is teaching us that women are no longer afraid of starting again. A woman can be hurt by the end of a marriage and still choose not to be destroyed by it. But that should not make us conclude that marriage is overrated or that men and women no longer value commitment. Maybe what we need is to do marriage better. Men need to understand that a woman is not supposed to be controlled with the fear of divorce. Women too need to understand that independence should not make us careless with commitment. Marriage is still a serious thing. But staying married at all costs should not be the only definition of success. Let’s raise men and women who know how to love, communicate, respect, take responsibility, apologise, grow and walk away with dignity when things can no longer be repaired. Because whether a marriage lasts or ends, how we treat each other matters.
