Today's favourite find has to be this stunning silver and enamel brooch. At first glance I just thought it was a beautiful piece of jewellery, but after checking the hallmark I discovered it's an authentic James Fenton Art Nouveau brooch, dating to 1908-1909. Over 115 years old, yet the vibrant blue enamel has survived incredibly well. It's amazing to think that something once worn with such pride lay hidden beneath the ground for all those years before finding its way into my finds pouch. This is exactly why I love metal detecting. Every now and then you uncover something that isn't just old-it's a piece of craftsmanship with its own journey through history. Safe to say this one won't be leaving my collection anytime soon. #MetalDetecting #ArtNouveau #SilverBrooch #MetalDetectingUK #HistoryUnearthed
If explaining the task takes longer than doing it, don't automate it. Bookkeeping firm wanted their monthly close automated. Two hours a month. We told them no. They spent 20 hours a WEEK chasing receipts. Nobody flagged it. It didn't feel like a task, it felt like weather. The work with a name gets automated. The work that eats your year doesn't.
