K-3 principal- when boys get sent to my office… I have a box of squishy toys and we go in the hallway and throw them at the walls as hard as we can. Sometimes helps w girls… always helps w boys.

yes! just got a Vanderbilt form sent home with my 5 year old. granted two out of my 3 are diagnosed with ADHD but is it that or just an active little boy?

Elementary admin here! Wiggly, off task, wanting to move, getting up and other age appropriate behaviors (girls too) don’t concern me. Eloping, tossing classrooms, hitting, biting, turning over tables and chairs… I’m concerned. We have more of the later than ever!

Because kids aren’t meant to be sheep and programmed into a school system and sit all day or most the day kids need to be kids not in school and trained where half of that stuff they don’t need for their life it’s a free daycare suited to help working parents basically

On a different side of the same coin, we also have to be mindful of using the term “boys will be boys” for loud and wild behavior. There can’t always be an excuse for that.

Just had a teacher call me two weeks ago about my son, not sitting still and paying attention. It was just three weeks into the school year. Just as I have to, he’s adjusting to going back to school. He’s only seven years old.

My four year old was being sent to the office daily for not sitting to complete his worksheet . Not hurting others, not being disrespectful, not destroying property - he couldn’t sit still to do his worksheets at 4 years old. He hated school and his self esteem took a major hit . New teacher this year and a million times better .

My boys are now 29, and 19. When my oldest was little my Mom who taught elementary school for 35 years said to me, “don’t ever let anyone tell you he needs to be medicated. He’s a boy. He’s smart, curious and healthy.” 💙

I was able to homeschool my very high energy son; however my other son was autistic and needed more services than I could provide. He started public school in 4th grade. The one that couldn’t sit still, I literally had to have him run around the block before doing math is getting his PhD in genetics of some sort at VaTech and my son with Autism just graduated from Tulane with a double major. There is nothing wrong with high energy boys or boys with big emotions. They will make it!

Scottsdale AZ dad here. My 5yo boy just got “counseled out” of our local private Catholic school kindergarten within 3 weeks. Not one single word of positive feedback. Every single day an email from the teacher about his behavior and inability to sit and be quiet still etc etc the things they said about my son… the disdain and attitude of “he needs ‘help’ that we just can’t give him”. From a Catholic school! So much for Christian compassion and service and patience. Just disgusting shameful people. 1 week in to a highly rated public school nearby and he is thriving. He’s loved, accepted, and appreciated for the wonderful kid he is

My brother was one of these boys who struggled at school. His second grade teacher understood her assignment, though. She told my mom, "Sometimes we need to let the horses run." 👏👏👏😂

my son is 3 almost 4. the amount of times I have been told he has ADHD because he needs contact movement. mind you he is able to focus and read or play with puzzles etc but just needs lots of activity throughout the day and climb the walls. okay so you mean normal almost 4 year old behavior. 🙄😅

My 5 year old is having issues for being disruptive. But he is able to finish legos projects, he needs movement and play time. Kindergarten is switch to more academics
