My dad lost 200 million dollars in the 2008 stock market crash. Never recovered since. My mother told him to sell because woman in Dubai talk a lot between another about their husbands so called “ woman’s talk” and there was a rumor that the stock market would crash. and my dad had a huge ego and didn’t listen to my mom when she told him to sell.

My dad sold, they moved and sold their three other properties bc my mom told him she had “a weird feeling about the markets.” The women in my family- including myself? Have a really weird sense abt big stuff like this. Idk why. I think it’s witchy tbh and my mom and grandma dabble in it😅 but she was 100% right. Saved up from financial ruin and we’re doing really really well!

To everybody asking why he didn’t short the market, it doesn’t matter how right they felt. Mortgage Backed Securities had NEVER failed in history up until that point. Even if you were confident a crash was coming, it had NEVER happened before in history so even if you were sure it was still going to happen you wouldn’t be willing to gamble everything on something that while on paper LOOKED LIKE IT WOULD HAPPEN, has still never happened. Dr. Michael Burry is the most famous case example of someone who did it and investors didn’t want to work with him even AFTER he took successful short positions. There were NO instruments to short mortgage backed securities you couldn’t just do it you had to make your own investors literally had to work with banks to make their own instruments that would short MBS.

Also guys just bc my dad knew doesn’t mean he was insider trading 😭 he literally couldn’t bc he had nothing to sell, he invested in nothing during that and had nothing besides cash. He refused to have a credit line. No major assets nun of that. So no he wasn’t insider trading.
