Under this definition of 'boss rush' any game with bosses that gate progress becomes a boss rush game. MGSV: boss rush. Elden Ring: boss rush. Metroid: boss rush. Zelda: boss rush. Ghosts 'n Goblins: boss rush. Super Mario Brothers: boss rush.🤦♂️

that can't possibly be what a boss rush game is, right? right? Doesn't the make Zelda (pre-botw) boss rush games? Dark Souls? I always thought boss rushes were what came at the end of a game where you refought a bunch of bosses in sequence before the final boss, like in Megaman Zero or like when a game has a separate boss rush mode

A boss rush game cant be a sandbox, it has to be linear, thats why is a rush. This is just a survival game that has an objective like so many others
