Richard had put in place an evacuation plan because of the bombing in the Towers parking lot in the 90s. It was because of his plan that so many lived. There's a documentary about him.

I was 19.It was a beautiful morning and I was in the car when I first heard a plane hit. at that point they thought it was a propeller plane. (the radio announcers). I got home and turned the TV on just in time to see that 2nd plane hit and watched the towers fall in horror. I remember the way I felt that whole day.

North Jersey. the phones were flooded and no one could call anyone. the elementary schools called every single family to make sure someone could get the kids; half the parents worked in the city. friends in the city. a friend in the Pentagon that day doing an internship, another in the capitol building. went on rotation to take care of my neighbors kids for at least a week because he was an er nurse. he came home destroyed. No patients came. they waited for hours before they realized there was no one to send them. the world was broken

I just keep thinking about how unifying this shared experience was. We didn’t fall apart, we came together and supported one another. It breaks my heart to think how removed our society is from that now.

I will NEVER forget where I was or what I was doing!! I was in the dental chair having some dental work done, when the breaking news came across the tv , my dentist son was in one of the flights or ( he was supposed to be, but he overslept and missed his flight!!) however my dentist didn’t know that his son missed his flight!! It was horrible to watch my dentist go limp as he thought he lost his son!! When he found out that his son was okay, he asked me if I’d be okay with him doing a temporary fix so he could go be with his wife! I was more than happy to come back in the following week! RIP to all those who lost their lives and 🙏 to all lives who have been impacted by their losses!!🥰
