This might be optimism, but I’m working on the assumption that the footage showing that was played on the easiest mode. If the game has a story/exploration mode, self-completing QTEs would not be out of place.

I don't have a ps5 anymore so I don't have a dog in this at all, but the contrarian in me is just fine with all of this. Those spiderman games were great, but there were so many combat options and combos I was never going to master them all. I got no beef with simplifying things a little.

Spider-Man 2018 being fantastic doesn't establish that every superhero game has to be Spider-Man 2018. Skyrim being enormous doesn't establish that every RPG needs to be enormous. And a 10/10 masterpiece doesn't become the minimum acceptable quality simply because people have gotten accustomed to exceptional games.

Auto completing qte's is a setting you can turn on or off. Pretty sure spiderman had the same option. I remember skipping the puzzles on my second play through of spiderman 2
